It’s true White as Milk, I’ve been around.
I got tired of your fonts and your narrow view of my posts. Your white background bored me. I wanted something different. There was short dalliance with The Journalist v1.9. I hate to admit it, but I even spent a night with DePo Masthead and Black-LetterHead (not at the same time, mind you).
What was I thinking?
Last night I came to my senses, White as Milk. I love how your posts are left justified, while your menu leans to the right. I realize now how much I long for the cute way you stack my tags. The way you squeeze each and every one of my uploads between impossibly thin margins.
O, I’ve been a fool, White as Milk!
Please, forgive me. I swear I’ll never leave you again.

Woo, woo!
William Bradley from The Ethical Exhibitionist nominated Present Tense for an award/meme thingy. I’m always a little amazed intelligent people are willing to admit to reading this site. Thanks, Bradley! I’m going to nominate a few of the sites I enjoy a little later this afternoon or possibly later this week. Until then, this honor is all mine!
The big news this morning is the teachers strike. Aaron and Kennedy are home with Holly, when they should be in school. I saw all the teachers out in picket lines this morning on the drive into work. If you toot your horn, they all raise their signs and cheer.

Holly has a new post up at her site. It’s a cute story about Aaron. Everyone go look all at once and crash her server!

Just saw Dark Knight. Someone should make a movie where Harvey Dent faces off against Anton Chigurh. Now that would be an awsome movie.

What good is insight? It only makes things worse.
-Raymond Carver.
I found this lovely Carver quote in a wonderful little book about how to write memoir by Abigail Thomas called, Thinking About Memoir.

I added a page to the site where I can showcase my writing.
I added one new piece and put some links top stuff I’ve already discussed in other posts. The title of the new essay is 20/20. This one earned kind comments from an editor who rejected it. I hope you like it.
On the new page, I’ve got links to the New York Times article and to my essay on Brevity. I believe my Brevity story is going to come down at some point, so I thought I’d get some other stuff posted. I added two stories from my childhood memoir project that I previously posted, but now on pages of their own.
Things still looks a little sparse, so I’ll try and get some other stuff up soon.

I got The Complete Led Zeppelin for $9.99 at Rhapsody, RealNetwork’s music service. That’s 165 MP3 files encoded at 256 kbps with no DRM for less than 10 dollars. It must have been some sort of goof up because they have raised the price to $59.99. I love MP3 with no DRM. You never know when a DRM provider is going to change the standard, go out of business, or abandon their technology.

Holly got an email from Facebook with a subject header that said, “Tim Elhajj said that you two are married.” After adding her as a friend to my facebook account, I indicated that we were married. Facebook was checking on the veracity of my comments, as they probably should. For some reason the verification e-mail cracks me up. Someone at Facebook has a sense of humor.

When Aaron was five, he drew the image that appears in my new header for Father’s day. I have always loved it. The gang over at Qt3—especially Coca Cola Zero and Fugitive—helped me turn it into a nice looking banner. Thanks guys!
